OLUFUNSHO AMOSUN, FIVE OTHERS TO CLIMB KILIMANJARO FOR IDPs

Worried by the high number of Internally Displayed Persons (IDP) across the Nation, the wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Olufunsho Amosun has expressed her intention to climb mountain Kilimanjaro in order to raise fund to assist the affected victims. Mrs Amosun who will be climbing the mountain on behalf of wife of the President, Mrs Aishat Buhari with five other notable women in Nigeria, said the present condition of the IDPs in camps was deplorable, explaining that they would leave their comfort zones to climb mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds to improve the living condition of those in the camps. “I am climbing the mountain on behalf of the wife of the President of the Fedral Republic of Nigeria, Hajia Aishat Buhari who is so passionate about women and children and all those who are in IDP camps across our nation. She has demonstrated this in several ways and I am happy to climb on her behalf. I am also climbing to raise fund to alleviate poverty, the suffering and hardship that those in the IDP camps are experiencing right now. It takes five days to ascend and two days to descend, so we should be back by December 6, 2015”, she said. She also added that a lot of women, children and relatives were separated and scattered in various IDP camps across the nation, driven out of their homes and found themselves living in makeshift camps due to persistent attacks by insurgents which has resulted to many children dropping out of schools and become traumatised psychologically. She however called on well-meaning people in the world over to support their effort by donating to; ‘’Kilimanjaro for IDP camps Wema Bank Account number, 0122538124’’. Others to climb the mountain include, Mrs. Joke Olanipekun, Mrs. Uzo Nwuni, Mrs. Deso Laditan and Mrs. Remi Abere. In a related development, Mrs. Amosun also launched a social media campaign for the ‘climbwithremi’ expedition which is part of Mrs. Abere
