VSO PARTNERS POLICE FOR ADVANCE TRAINING PROGRAMME


Officers of the  Vigilante Service of Ogun State(VSO) have been tasked  to avail themselves of the opportunities to acquire knowledge for more effective performance
to enhance their capacity  for better security services.

The Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko made this known while declaring open a 5-day training programme in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State command  for officers of the Corp at the Vigilante Academy in Ilaro.

Ojuko stated that regular training programmes were essential not only for  development but an avenue to improve attitudes, skills and knowledge.

The Commissioner who was represented by his Director of Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Dolapo Adewumi reiterated the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration in his commitment and priority to security of lives and property in the State.

"On assumption of duty, over 150 Toyota Pick-Up vans with state of the art security gadgets  were purchased and a total of 13 numbers of Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) were distributed across the State to support security organisations which was an indication that the present administration would not rest until its citizens were well protected.

I therefore charged our officers to  make the best out of this training so that you complement the efforts of the State government and also    deliver better services  through  operational and information gathering  techniques  that would aid  in securing our state" Ojuko stated.

Earlier in his welcome address, the State Commander of VSO, Mr. Soji Ganzallo hinted that members of the Corp were ready and  prepared  to combat any form of menace and criminalites in the State adding that concrete synergy existed between them and other security agencies in the State .

Ganzallo added that the training was organised  to nip in the bud the  increasing  crime rates  in the society, especially in the  areas  of kidnapping and violence .

He appreciated the Nigeria Police Force for partnering with the State  government on the training, he assured that his men would tap from their range of experience that would enhance their performance.

Delivering a lecture titled Operational techniques in dealing with the menace of kidnapping, ASP Shittu Bamidele delved on the importance of disseminating timely information to the  Police for proper technical approach to handle such cases.

He noted that officers should alert the Police of any impending criminal activities for effective investigation and arrest.

Speaking in an interview, two participants Mrs. Alabi Tawa of Yewa Zone and Mufutau Yesiru  from Ijebu Zone appreciated the State government efforts at ensuring capacity building of the Corp noting that the training was timely as it would help prepare them for any challenges that may arise in the course of their duties
