Medical Doctors have been asked to embrace professionalism while doing their work and put more efforts to realize the goals set by their association in order to move forward.
Ogun State Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro who stated this during the 2022 Ordinary General Meeting of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Ogun State Branch, which was held in Abeokuta, urged medical Doctors to stay behind in Nigeria, calling on those that left for greener pastures to the developed nations to be happy to come back happy and develop their fatherland.
" I want to congratulate every member and the executives of the great association for a successful hosting of this year Ordinary General Meeting. I want to charge the medical Doctors to be up and doing, be more dedicated and uphold the ethics of the profession. It is our duties to support this association to reach out goals and I believe that we are ready to put in our best" the HoS said.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the association, Dr. Oladayo Ogunlaja said that the programme was put together to find solution to brain drain, how to make things better and make Nigeria green again.
In his lecture, the Chief Speaker, Dr. Oluwole Kukoyi, who spoke on the theme" Doctors Exodus To Greener Pastures: Can Nigeria Be Green Again. Way Forward To Stopping This Looming Disaster" said that someone that view from a wrong side would have wrong perspective and where he or she thought was green might not actually be green.
He explained that migration of doctors from Nigeria to the developed nations, especially in the United Kingdom with 9,529 doctors as at April, 2022, has become a problem which must be tackled by the Government, with the support of everyone.
