The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and four other Governors has been honoured with the 2021 best Governor of the year award by the Vanguard Newspaper.
The award according to the organiser is in recognition of the way the Governor has effected fundamental changes in the state, through initiatives encapsulated under the acronym I-S-E-Y-A, the initiative they also said aims to end poverty and misery and spread prosperity throughout the state.
The organisers who further opined that ISEYA is fundamental to the creation of enduring economic development and the individual prosperity of the people of the state, added that the I-S-E-Y-A initiative touches every sector in the state and that Governor Abiodun has been faithful in it's implementation for the benefit of the people.
The four other Governors are the Governors of Osun, Edo, Nasarawa and Gombe States.
Speaking with newsmen after receiving the award tagged "a Decade of Excellence",held in Lagos State, Governor Abiodun while dedicating the award to members of his cabinet and the entire people of the state, said the award was made possible as a result of team work, cooperation and the collaborative efforts of every member of the State Executive Council.
The Governor who explained that the award would further serve as motivation to service, assured that the current administration would not renege on its promise of making the state more viable and conducive for the people of the state.
The state helmsman while promising that his administration would not relent in its effort to make the state better, promised that the rest of his administration's tenure would be used to deliver on the rest of its promises.
" I promise that we will not renege on our promises, we do not promise to do everything, but, we will do everything that we promised, the rest of our tenure promises to deliver on the rest of our promises," he said.
Abiodun while acknowledging the role of the party under the leadership of, President Muhammadu Buhari, also appreciated the words of wisdom of former Governor Olusegun Osoba.
" Let me thank my party, the All Progressives Congress under the leadership of the president for providing the platform we are all standing on, because without that platform, we will not be receiving an award in the first place, I want to also thank my leader, my mentor,Baba Osoba for his words of wisdom and advice that hpas guided us," he said.
Also, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Shuaibu Salis who noted that the award would further challenge the Governor and his team to do more for the state, thanked the people of the state, as well as the political class for their support.
Salis who called on the political class who are still mingling with distractors, urged them to come and collaborate with the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration in moving the state forward.
The event was attended by dignitaries across the country, including the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele and members of the state executive council, among others.
