SECURITY CHALLENGES FACED BY THE COUNTRY ARE SURMOUNTABLE - SPORTS COMMISIONER

Tackling Security challenges has been described as the business of all and sundry hence no one must be left out in order to achieve its desired result.

This disclosure was made known by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde at the Maiden Edition of the town hall meeting of the Ogun State Caucus of the Nigerian Youth Parliment " Security and Youth  Development".

In his address, the Commissioner said the Town Hall Meeting was organised to nip in the bud, the various security challenges affecting the development of the Nigerian Youth. 

He added that the challenges faced by the Youths were not insurmountable as it was necessary to put all hands on deck to address the challenges in the Nation by ensuring self security in the first instance. 

He said the Youth who constituted over fifty percent of the population who could be vulnerable must be considered  in development planning project of the Country.

The Commissioner noted that the present administration  in the State has taken the bull by the horn at reducing the security challenges in the State,  by giving  the Youths new lease of life through  provision of gainful employment  and making them to be employers of labour as well as empowering them to take care of their families, and shun all forms of crimes and criminality.

In his welcome address, a member of the National Youth Parliament, representing Ogun West, Prince Oyede, disclosed  that the meeting was aimed to bring Stakeholders in Ogun and the youths together towards a robust discussion at sustaining the peace being enjoyed in the State as absence of peace may be an inimical to national  development. 

Prince Oyede said security is essential as 2023 election is approaching, adding  that the gathering was a testimony that Prince Dapo Abiodun has special interest in the youths of the State.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Engr. Olayiwola Abiodun urged the youths to shun abuse of substances and other vices which would make them vulnerable to security challenges adding that  only a good state of health could contribute to development. 

In their separate goodwill messages, the Special Assistant to  the Governor on Youths Affairs and Youth Development, Hon. Rashes Aroboto and Desmond Olujimi said youths should see themselves as the strength of the Nation and therefore be ready to be weapon of development and not destruction, adding that the future of the Country lies with them, hence the need to support the Government to ensure adequate security which would engender development in all facets of life.
