Commissioner for Finance who also doubles as Chief Economic Adviser (CEA), Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, made this known at the 2023 budget breakdown media parley held at Olusegun Osoba Press Centre, Governor's office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta on Wednesday.

He  said the overall ambition of the Dapo Abiodun-led administration was to put in place, measures that would reposition the State as the fastest growing economy in Nigeria and also maximise the potentials in every sector. He noted that the administration’s goals were geared towards job creation, poverty eradication, creating investment opportunities and improving real sector growth.

Okubadejo said various strategies such as continued engagements with the citizens across the four (Remo, Ijebu, Yewa and Egba) divisions of the State were employed to achieve economic growth and development, adding that digitization initiatives across Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government in order to bring about efficiency, accuracy, transparency and blockage of revenue leakages in government were part of the enablers of the success recorded.

He pointed out that  the government efforts to make Ogun the investment destination of choice through the opening up of border roads such as Epe-Ijebu-Ode- Mujoda as well as collaborating with Lagos State to key into the initiative of the network  of Blue and Red train line transportation system  where the blue and red lines means of transportation would be extended to Kajola and Agbara axis of the State to ease movement of people in and out of the two corridors.

He  added that the cargo airport which is aerotropolis in nature with complementary facilities would swing into operation soon, having commenced on  the first phase of the project.

“Ogun State is blessed, not only because of its competitive and comparative advantage, but also because of the unique policies the current administration had put in place since 2019, which would allow the State achieve its primary target as the fastest growing economy in Nigeria"

"We need to continue to ensure that the State’s ranking in the ease of doing business continue to improve such that investors continue to feel comfortable. And part of this is about security as well, removing all the red-tapes, bottlenecks and processes that would ensure investors have a hitch-free entry into the State”, Okubadejo explained.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Albduwaheed Odusile noted that the media parley was premised on the need for the media and the general public to have a detailed understanding of the budget breakdown, noting that the present administration would always involve its citizens in its policy formulations and implementation to facilitate the much needed developmental objectives.
