The stage is getting set towards a hitch-free hosting of the maiden edition of NIPR Week as a Team of Local Organising Committee paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Alabata, Abekuta, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde.
The Chairman, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Ogun State Chapter, Mrs Seun Boye, who led the Team, felicitated Prof Kehinde on his appointment as the Vice Chancellor of the Institution and hinted him of the activities lined up for the NPRW taking place in Abeokuta June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta.
Part of the activities, according to the Chairperson is the engagement with students of Mass Communication to orientate them on the nitty-gritty of Public Relations, she requested for the students of Communication and General studies of the Institution to grace the occasion.
Boye added that a courtesy call had been made on the Chairman of Obas' Council, the Akarigbo of Remo land, Oba Babatunde Ajayi where monarchs were also invited to 'engagement with traditional rulers' on how to deploy PR strategies to develop their domains in addition to government's efforts, using corporate social responsibility as a tool.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, described the NPR Week taking place in Abeokuta as a worthwhile event, especially the students' engagement which he noted would give the in-coming PR practitioners fore-knowledge of what the profession entails, promising his unflinching supports throughout the event.
In a similar vein, his counterpart at Crescent University, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila who expressed delight for the visit, said, hosting of NPR week in Ogun would be of immense benefits, acknowledging that the department of Public Relations in the school has helped to showcase the 19 years institution to the world.
He also promised the Institution's full support, in line with the legacy of the founder, Late Prince Bola Ajibola
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of prospectus to each member of the Team by Prof. Kehinde of FUNNAB, while Prof. Gbajabiamila if Crescent also presented the university calendar and a bag made of adire material as a way of showcasing the business in Abeokuta in tandem with NPRW activities, which include adire runway and conference kits made of adire.
The Team also visited the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) at Ibara Housing Estate where the Corp Commandant and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Seni Ogunyemi received them in company of his management staff.
For safety of delegates, traffic control and security, Ogunseni has promised that his officers would be deployed at each venue of the event, requesting another visit by the Team towards proper planning and logistics.
Mrs Boye also presented a copy of the Compendium published by the Chapter to each of the hosts.
