The Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has felicitated the government and people of Ogun State on the occasion of the year 2025 Democracy Day.

In a statement by the State Chairman of the Institute, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye,  democracy *thrived* where leadership, institutions, and citizens *were* responsive, transparent, and actively engaged in the governance process, commending the Gov. Dapo Abiodun led-administration for sustaining good democratic *ideals* through progressive policies and people-oriented programmes aimed at improving the lives of residents and shaping the future of the State.

Mrs. Boye who said the Day was an opportunity to celebrate the continuous deepening of democratic rule in the country as well as a time to reflect on the values of good governance, inclusive leadership, and people-centered development, highlighted various achievements of the present administration in Ogun state, saying “ The government’s investments in the health sector have continued to yield visible results, with the revitalization of over 100 primary healthcare centres, upgrades of general hospitals, improved access to maternal care, and the expansion of community-based health insurance schemes aimed at improving the living standard of the people.”

“We also celebrate the State’s commendable hosting of the Gateway Games 2024, which not only rekindled Ogun’s historic legacy in sports but served as a rallying point for youth development, unity, and the projection of our State’s image as a vibrant hub for talent and excellence,” she noted.

Boye added that ”In education, the government has demonstrated sustained commitment through infrastructural development, renovation of public schools, training and recruitment of teachers, and the deployment of technology in classrooms, ensuring that Ogun learners and students are not left behind in the global knowledge economy.”

The Chairman also said that the State under the leadership of Gov. Abiodun had recorded remarkable achievements in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and digital governance sector, noting that the various youth tech empowerment programmes, support for startups, broadband expansion, and the automation of government services were a vision for smarter and more accountable governance.

Mrs. Boye reaffirmed the commitment of the Institute and its members to fostering communication that builds public trust, policy understanding, and strengthens civic participation, saying that democracy flourishes in an environment of open dialogue, credible information, and strategic engagement.
