Gov Dapo Abiodun has reemphasised that as Nigerians celebrate 65 years Anniversary of its independence, there's the need to remember that the true measure of freedom lies in how it is used to serve, to build and to bless others.
The Governor who gave the disclosure during the Interdenomination Church Service, to mark the 65th National Day Celebration of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, held at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta, added that the Anniversary celebration should ignite in us as citizens, renewed hope and steadfast faith that Nigeria's best days are yet to come
In his words, Gov Abiodun noted that the founding fathers of the Nation dreamt of a nation where no man is oppressed, where opportunities abound for all, and where the wealth of our land is shared equitably, stressing that the vision was within reach, if only we continue to hold fast to patriotism, integrity, service and shared responsibility.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, informed that Nigerians must summon the courage to move beyond despair into a future bright with possibilities, noting that the assembly was to affirm the nation's gratitude to God, whilst recognizing the blessings we have received, the struggles we have overcome and the boundless potential that lies ahead.
While specially acknowledging and commending the efforts of President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his visionary leadership and commitment to nation building through bold social economic reforms under the renewed hope agenda, which has set the tone for Nigeria's greatness, he said these policies are already attracting investors, stabilizing our currency and laying the foundation for inclusive prosperity.
Gov Dapo Abiodun revealed Unity has been the corner stone of his administration tbis he said has formed the basis of its progress in the State, considering it steadfastly aligns with President's vision, through people centered governance, pointing out that it had made notable strides in infrastructure, health care, education and youth empowerment.
According to him, sustainable nation building thrives on dialog, understanding and harmonious co-existence, charging all present that as they reflect on six and a half decades of independence, they should us also cast their eyes to the horizon with a view of seeing a glorious future.
In his National Day Sermon, the Diocesan Bishop of Awori Anglican Diocese, Rev (Dr), Johnson Akintomide, who spoke on the title 'A new Nigeria is possible, the time is now', said the gathering of the saint signifies hope, gratitude and prayer to God who made the 65 celebration possible.
Referencing the case of the Israelites when they were in captivity in the wilderness before God delivered as recorded in Isaiah 43, Rev. Akintomide noted that Nigeria for some time has been in the captivity of hardship, hunger, injustice, drug abuse, insecurity, political instability, corruption amongst others, praying that today God will deliver the country in Jesus name.
Urging Nigerians not to dwell in the past as God is ready to do a new thing in the country, he said national transformation requires human cooperation with God by praying persistently, raising Godly leaders in the country, churches, political offices as well as reject corruption, shun tribalism, stop cursing and condemning government as it won't change the country.
He felicitated the President of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on the occasion of the nation's 65th independent anniversary and commending them for the developmental strides across all sectors, charging government at all levels to do more by prioritising education, justice, peace and fundamental, unite Nigerians beyond tribes, initiative local security network, be ready to build a strong nation, lead with wisdom and integrity.
Prayers were also said for the Nation, Ogun State, political leaders as well as traditional and spiritual Institutions alongside its leaders
