Creation of additional 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Ogun State has been described as catalyst that has helped transformed and repositoned Local Government administration for optimal performance in the State.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko made this known in Abeokuta today while declaring open an interactive session organised in conjunction with RealGrip International for Chairmen, Vice Chairmen and Secretaries to Local Governments across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the State.
Ojuko pointed out that the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led government was determined to put in place a dynamic system that would not only help achieve good governance but also an instrument to harness the inherent potentials that would improve Internally Generated revenue and bring more dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
"This new system which started a year ago having fulfilled constitutional requirements had necessitated continuous interactions that would help surmount challenges that may arise in the course of Local Government administration"
"This interactive session has been designed to widen participants horizon to see how challenges can be minimized or totally eradicated" Ojuko stressed.
He therefore called on participants to think out of the box towards ensuring that dividends of democracy were enjoyed by the people of their various Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in order to complement the efforts of the present administration.
In their goodwill messages, the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Bolaji Oyeleye urged local government chieftains to pay utmost attention to environment, waste and sanitation issues in their councils noting that without a clean environment, residents were at risk of unhealthy living.
His counterpart from the Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives, Hon. Gbenga Adenmosun also charged participants to ensure cordial relationship with Community Development Associations (CDAs) as they are patners in progress in ensuring government programmes and policies achieved the desired results.
The interactive session was themed " Organizational Development through Effective Change Management and IGR Generation" had 171 participants in attendance.
