Councillors across the 20 Local Government Areas in Ogun State have pledged their support for the candidacy of Hon. Adekunle Akinlade at a special meeting held at the Obas Complex Conference Hall, Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta on Monday.
Speaking on behalf of the Councillors across the 3 Senatorial District, Hon. Ololade Kazeem, Jide Opafola and Tunde Makinde alleged that the mandate freely given by APC members in Ogun State to Hon. Abdulkabir Akinlade on October 2, 2018 was stolen.
According to them, the primary election which produced Akinlade as APC governorship candidate was conducted throughout the wards in Ogun State and witnessed by securuty agents and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission( INEC).
They described the primary that produced Dapo Abiodun as the party candidate as "fraudulent and a daylight robbery", demanding a return of Akinlade's stolen mandate.
The Councillors also dissociate themselves from supporting an endorsing of the candidate of Abiodun, saying ghost counsellors endorsed him.
They however call on the National leadership of APC to ensure Akinlade's mandate is restored.
