A Japanese Company, Kawasho Foods and Jfe-Shoji Corporations, have donated 450 Desks and 11,000 exercise books, among others, to a number of Public Primary Schools in Ogun State.
The items, which includes 150 cartons of Geisha products, were presented to schools at the premises of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Oke -mosan in Abeokuta.
The beneficiaries of the company’s gesture include s, Wesley Primary School, Ikenne, L.G. Primary School, Makun, Sagamu, ANGL School, Ilugun Asalu, Abeokuta North, Ijaiye Comm. Nur/Pry. School,Gbamgba, Abeokuta South, Methodist Primary School, Abese, Ewekoro,

Receiving the materials, the Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB), Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, appreciated the company for donating the items and said that the gesture would make learning more convenient for the pupils and encourage them to improve on their academic performances.
Dr Majekodunmi represented by SUBEB Secretary, Mr. Olalekan Kuye, called on individuals and organisations to join the state government in the area of providing interventions in education, stressing that government would not be able to do it alone.
He said ''the donated furniture's will improve learners' sitting posture and convenience while the exercise books will serve as writing materials for learners' especially the indigent ones will improve their academic performances. Also, the Geisha products will serve as supplement to improve learners' diet which will aid their physical development and promote healthy living.
''I therefore salute Kawasho Foods Trade and Jfe-Shoji Corporations, Japan which are well known brand in Nigeria especially with the Geisha trademark. The Donors' passion for the personal well-being and comfort of school children makes today's donation the sixth of its kind by the corporation and I urge you to continue with the good gesture even as I assure you that your efforts would continue to be appreciated by God and Humanity in million folds''.
Responding, the Desk Officer in charge of the program, Princess Tolani Awolesi appreciated the good gesture by corporations, saying that it would make learning more convenient for the students, and also help in improving their academic performances.
Speaking, the representative of Kawasho Foods Corporation, Mr Henry Agboyifo appreciated the people of Nigeria for their continued patronage of the products, pledged for the continuous support of corporate social responsibility in schools.
Responding on behalf of other schools, Babatunde Alimat from Baptist Day School, Igbesa, Ado Odo/Ota said the facilities and materials provided by the corporations would be used judiciously and safeguard from vandalism, so as to motivate the donors to do more.
The highlights of the event was the presentation of the education materials to the beneficiaries.
