...Seeks Partnership to Showcase Adire, Boost Tourism at Global PR Forum
The Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has intensified preparations for the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) and its flagship end-of-year celebration, Owanbe Season 2, with a strategic advocacy visit to the Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Leading the delegation, the Chairman of Ogun NIPR, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, mnipr, said the visit formed part of the Chapter's statewide awareness campaign directed by the National Executive Council of NIPR to mobilise stakeholders ahead of the global communication summit scheduled for November 15–21, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
She described the Forum, themed "Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World," as a unique opportunity for Ogun State to showcase its tourism potential, cultural heritage and creative economy before a global audience.
Mrs. Boye called on the Ministry to establish an Ogun State Tourism and Adire Pavilion at the Forum to promote authentic Adire, cultural festivals, heritage sites, indigenous arts and tourism destinations, while also encouraging the sponsorship of tourism and public relations professionals to participate in the international event.
The Ogun NIPR Chairman also sought the Ministry's collaboration for Owanbe Season 2, the Chapter's annual cultural and networking event, holding on 6th November at the Kayode Egbetokun Event Centre, Abeokuta, noting that the initiative celebrates Ogun's rich heritage while fostering professional relationships and promoting the state's tourism assets. She explained that the event aligns with the Ministry's mandate of preserving and promoting Ogun's cultural identity.
Responding, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Chief Sesan Fagbayi, commended Ogun NIPR for its commitment to strategic communication and cultural promotion, assuring the delegation of the Ministry's continued support and stronger collaboration.
The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Qudus Yusuf, alongside other management staff, described the World Public Relations Forum as a global platform capable of projecting Ogun State's unique cultural identity and tourism offerings, expressing confidence that the state would make a remarkable impact.
The visit marks the commencement of Ogun NIPR's stakeholder engagement campaign aimed at securing broad-based support for Nigeria's hosting of the World Public Relations Forum and the successful staging of Owanbe Season 2, while positioning Ogun State as a leading destination for culture, tourism and strategic communication.
